Running a successful online business lately depends on not just having a website, but expanding one's web presence as far as possible to reach new clients.

There are a few simple ways an entrepreneur can increase their web presence - allowing them to reach potential customers and clients they may not have been able to reach otherwise - without breaking their back or going broke. Below are some of such methods:

Join Social Networking Sites

One of the most powerful social media strategies one can implement is social networking. Free sites such as Twitter and Facebook allow one to create a personal profile page to post information about one’s business.

After joining these sites, it is important to invite other people to join same networks; also, it is equally important for one to join groups and sites where others are interested in the same topic. At these sites, one can sound off about their business or products, thus driving people to their website or blog.

Moreover, one must provide strictly valuable and pertinent information to their readers and followers, else those constant updates that are usually necessary to furnish new information to the sites may soon become irritating and people will start blocking them on their homepage.

Start a Blog, or Post on Others' Blogs

Another useful way to establish oneself as an expert while increasing one’s online presence at the same time is to start blogging. Or, making comments on blogs written by others is a great way to gain some practice while increasing one’s visibility by linking back to their website, blog or other social media network.

Setting up a blog is one thing, deciding what to write about, another. However, by reading other product- focused blogs, one can practice their posting while gaining ideas of what content to write about.

Create a Website

If one already has a website, they may still need to know how best to improve it. One does not have to create expensive and elaborate website, they just have to be noticeable to prospective consumers, provide valuable information and generate leads by allowing visitors to contact them for further information or free offers.

Several options are available when creating a website; for the more tech savvy entrepreneur, building one’s own site may not save time necessarily, but some money. However, for those who’d rather leave it to the experts, there a quite a few of those available also.

If one must hire others to develop a website, or purchase a template, it is important to look for supplemental materials as well. Some companies even offer supplemental marketing material to help draw prospects to a website or enlist the help of companies that specializes in lead generating website customization.

Use SEO to Increase a Website Ranking

SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is the process whereby keywords or phrases are added throughout one’s website to help search engine spiders properly rank their site in a Google search result. That is, if someone searches for “rare coins,” for example, the web page results will be ordered by relevance of how well the title, description and keywords of the website match the users web search query.

The objective for one’s website is to appear on the first page of the Google search results when customers or clients are searching online for solutions to their problems – the solutions that they are expert in. The more one’s web page content matches the words a prospective customer types into the Google search bar, the better chances one has of being found online.

It is suggested that one should keep their website as simple as possible and not clutter it with unnecessary copy; one way to do this is by hosting a blog on their website as this will increase the content and keywords without cluttering the main pages.
